Template-protected edit request on 28 February 2022_1

[edit]

Many editors are editing the map without updating the linked references, instead putting URLs in edit summaries. Per the documentation, links on the map must go to references supporting the control status, either at the city's article, or the list article, Cities and towns during the Russo-Ukrainian War (though, in a fast-moving situation such as the one we have now, the references are best centralized at the list article). These edits are creating extra work for other editors and putting the map's content out of sync with its references. I believe these are good-faith edits by editors who do not know where to add references; an editnotice can call attention to this. I suggest the following. ― Tartan357 Talk 02:39, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To fix a div-span-flip lint error, move the {{nobold}} template surrounding {{ordered list}} to each line, in other words change:

{{nobold|{{ordered list|list_style_type=lower-alpha
          |A well-known source that has a reputation for neutral (not biased) territorial control coverage, can be used (is deemed reliable) for all edits.
          |A well-known source that does ''not'' have a reputation for neutral (not biased) territorial control coverage, can be used (is deemed reliable) ''only'' for edits that are ''unfavorable'' to the side it ''prefers'' (''favorable'' to the side it ''opposes'').
          |A source that is not well-known (or that has proven inaccurate for all edits) ''cannot'' be used (is deemed unreliable) for ''any'' edit. This includes all maps (see item 2. next).
          |Do not put source URLs in edit summaries. The references at [[Cities and towns during the Russo-Ukrainian War]] must be updated before the map is edited.

That will still leave "a.", "b.", "c." and "d." in caps. I don't see a way around it. — Anomalocaris (talk) 08:11, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To editor Anomalocaris: the exact same linter error has been removed from Module:Russo-Ukrainian War detailed map/doc, Talk:Cities and towns during the Russo-Ukrainian War and from this talk page in the exact same way. P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 16:08, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To Tartan357: please be aware of this linter error situation before any more map rules boxes are edited. Thank you for your consideration! P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 16:26, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
