[edit]Inclusion criteria
Characters can be added to their list if either the work they appear in is notable (per WP:GNG), the character themselves is notable, or if the character's gender has been covered by multiple reliable sources. If none of these criteria apply, a character should be excluded from the list.

This notice is on the talk page; it should really be an editnotice. Sceptre (talk) 18:28, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

In light of the RFC about inclusion of Loki (MCU), I'd like to request that the notice be changed to the following:
Inclusion criteria
Characters can be added to their list if either the work they appear in is notable (per WP:GNG), the character themselves is notable, or if the character's gender has been covered by multiple reliable sources. If none of these criteria apply, a character should be excluded from the list.

While I can understand the urge to limit the page to characters whose "gender identity matches in some way human experience of gender" and exclude "non-gendered or multi-gendered alien species and non-gendered artificial intelligence in genres such as science fiction," in an attempt to "keep the list meaningful and useful", as Sceptre stated in an edit in August 2019, I'd argue that this is too limiting, as pages the List of fictional intersex characters, List of fictional asexual characters, List of fictional trans characters, List of fictional pansexual characters, List of fictional gay characters, List of fictional lesbian characters, List of fictional bisexual characters, List of lesbian characters in anime, List of lesbian characters in animation, List of bisexual characters in anime, List of bisexual characters in animation, or List of fictional aromantic characters do not have similar notices. I also feel that the current notice, if applied strictly, could lead to a great number of the entries on the List of fictional non-binary characters being imperiled, which would be bad for the hundreds of people who visit it every day, looking for information. Note the new sentence added to the 1st bullet point. As the scope discussion has wound down, I expect this will be the last change request for a while at least. Thanks. Nosferattus (talk) 02:46, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
