Comment

[edit]

Any chance of making this template use Template:County, and bring it inline with the rest of England (almost!) --Jza84 |  Talk  00:11, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Add Coast Path to template?

[edit]

The South West Coast Path now appears in the Devon template, which appears at the foot of the SWCP article. Should it be added to the Dorset template too (under "Topics" I suppose)? PamD (talk) 18:11, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The South West Coast Path is included in the Places of interest in Dorset article linked by the word Places on the template. --Steve Cottrell (talk) 16:13, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Towns

[edit]

I have removed some of the recent additions to the list of towns such as Overcombe, Highcliffe and Broadstone because Dorset has many towns/villages of this size, and I don't see why they are more important than others. For now, I have reduced the list to the towns that are, according to the Dorset County Council website, the 'key towns in Dorset as published in the 2007 Dorset Databook'. Portland

[edit]

I removed Portland from the Major Settlements section of this template because (in my opinion) it's an island containing sepatate settlements (Castletown, Easton, Fortuneswell, Southwell, The Grove, Wakeham, and Weston), none of which are towns or have a population >10k and so do not meet the inclusion critera. User:BarretB reinserted Portland into the list saying "Portland is also a settlement". I disagree, but I'm not from Dorset so maybe I'm wrong. Do people consider Portland to be a contiguous settlement, or a collection of separate settlements? Bazonka (talk) 10:17, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Villages of Portland seems to indicate that they are separate settlements. Bazonka (talk) 10:18, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
