[edit]How did this spider give its name to animals before anyone knew it existed? Hyacinth (talk) 01:19, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- The family name is taken from the genus name, thus the genus gave its name to the family.--Kevmin § 01:40, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- According to the article it is the sole genus in the family. Hyacinth (talk) 02:36, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- "Trogloraptor … is the sole genus in the family Trogloraptoridae, and includes only one species"
- How is it interesting that the family was named after its only member? Why contrast recently discovered with ancient family? The spiders may well have been distinct from others for 130 million years, but the family isn't ancient – it was created after the discovery.
- A new genus has been discovered and placed in a new family because it doesn't fit any existing family. Ζετα ζ (talk) 02:48, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- A newly described species/genus/family for a group of spiders (possibly more then one species) that the researchers noted to be ancient.--Kevmin § 06:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Then what does this have to do with troglobites? Hyacinth (talk) 03:35, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Trogloraptor is possibly a troglobite by virtue of its habitat (caves): This is not part of its Biological_classification.Ζετα ζ (talk) 05:37, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- As noted, the genus, and as a result, the monotypic family are Cave-dwellers, and thus considered troglobites (a general term from small cave dwelling animals).--Kevmin § 06:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
