... that the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences is breeding the endangered Chinese sturgeon in captivity in an attempt to restore river populations before the species disappears?

Excellent article, which checks out for length, date, citations. &c., but the hook does not, as in the source relied on I could not find any mention of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, nor of anyone being "charged with" restoring the population.
