I think I've created a workaround for the problem of this templeate showing it's link as Republic of China (1912–1949) instead of Republic of China. If you want your link to show up as Republic of China, use {{flagcountry|Republic of China (1912–1949)}}. If you want it to show up as China, use {{flagcountry|China (1912–1949)}}

It looks like a huge number of articles use {{flagcountry|Republic of China (1912–1949)}} to have their link show up as China, so we can't implement my workaround yet. We can probably have a bot replace {{flagcountry|Republic of China (1912–1949)}} with {{flagcountry|China (1912–1949)}} then implement it.
