I am dissatisfied with this current template. What separates a phase from a phenomenon? What is important to have in this template? I wanted to link together the various topics in condensed matter physics, but I don't have a clear organizing principle. For example, I think quasicrystals should be included, but I don't see how. Perhaps the APS March meeting sorting categories can be of help. --WilliamDParker 21:23, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Adding scientists?
[edit]I'm concerned that the scientists section will grow out of control or be a misleading list. Does anyone have an objective criterion for keeping the list manageably small? Barring any persuasive comments or an indication of consensus in favor of keeping the scientists section, I will remove it. --WilliamDParker (talk) 14:09, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Proposal to streamline "States of matter"
[edit]The current template includes under States of matter Solid, Liquid, Gas, Plasma, Bose–Einstein condensate Bose gas, Fermionic condensate, Fermi gas, Fermi liquid, Supersolid Superfluidity Luttinger liquid Time crystal
These are not all of similar character. Some phenomena (Superfluidity) Some are just models (Fermi gas, Luttinger liquid) Some are wanna-bes (Supersolid, Time crystal). If we include these, we could just as well include many more. For example degenerate matter claims to be a state of matter. I went to the list to show it's not: but then Fermi gas)
How about : Solid, Liquid, Gas, Plasma, Other states of matter (redirecting to States of matter) Johnjbarton (talk) 18:35, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
