When I add an external link within the body of the CNOTE, I get an error.

{{Cnote|iii|See, for example, the number of articles that link to the study on [http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&newwindow=1&client=firefox-a&hs=fiS&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=review+%22Helping+All+Youth+to+Grow+Up+Fully+Prepared+and+Fully+Engaged%22&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai Google].}}

produces

Error on call to Template:cnote: Parameter #1 (name of content note) and parameter #2 (text of content note) must both be entered.

While the following using two brackets

{{Cnote|iii|See, for example, the number of articles that link to the study on [[http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&newwindow=1&client=firefox-a&hs=fiS&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=review+%22Helping+All+Youth+to+Grow+Up+Fully+Prepared+and+Fully+Engaged%22&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai Google]].}}

produces

iii: See, for example, the number of articles that link to the study on [Google].

Merge discussion

[edit]

I have nominated this for TfD. Adding <noinclude>{{subst:tfm|efn|heading=cnote templates}}</noinclude> would be appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by E to the Pi times i (talkcontribs) 06:15, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 Done as a delete, not merge, to match the nomination. — JJMC89(T·C) 06:41, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
