This template has no longer any practical use; it is now far too cumbersome to bother with, and it's easier for editors to simply copy-paste a BCGNIS URL and use the square-bracket ordinary-URL format, naming the link. Filling in this new template's fields is time-consuming and completely pointless, as the whole POINT of the original BCGNIS template was to speed up the citation process.....not to load it down to keep some code-happy troll delighted with his craft. There is NO NEED for this template, it's a burden to authors actually using the British Columbia Geographical Names Information System. What ye sow, so shall ye reap; I'm on the road and have no time at present but I'll start a TfD for this to have it deleted, it's cumbersome, timewasting and utterly useless, given the origin of its predecessor as quick-and-easy; this ISN'T.....Skookum1 (talk) 19:06, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
New version
I rewrote the code for this template. The changes should backwards compatible. If you notice any strange behavior please leave a note here or on my discussion page. –droll [chat] 03:52, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
template is useless and cumbersome
As the primary user and "commissioner" of the original {{BCGNIS}}, which was simple and quick to use, I'd just like to note that I have been completely boycotting this template as cumbersome and time-wasting; when I cite BCGNIS now I just use the URL-cite format which is quick and easy to do, and doesn't take any more than a few seconds.....add up hundreds of usages, times the several minutes it takes to use this template, and that's hundreds of minutes (=several hours) of wasted time, all too "prettify" the code/interface and of no use at all to active, contributing editors.Skookum1 (talk) 22:22, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
