[edit]Peter - do you think there might be anyway of trimming this list somehow? I know its supposed to autohide when at the bottom of articles, but that doesn't seem to be happening, so at the end of each article there's a massive list, that's not so useful for navigating. --Joopercoopers (talk) 15:26, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't start it and am not sure it's a good idea. Still, once it was started, I added those churches for which there are articles (rather a lot in Cheshire - my fault!). I agree it would be a big advantage if it were to autohide, but I know nothing about navboxes and how to work them. Do you know anyone who could maybe help and make the thing disappear unless we really want to look at it? Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:50, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'll try Ddstretch. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:55, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think I've set it up so that it is always shown in an initial "collapsed" state. I agree that it is on the borderline of being unfeasibly large, and wonder about the discussion we had some time ago (on the Cheshire Project talk page?) where I seem to tyhink I argued that if the template were kept, it should be organised or divided up along deaconry divisions (and diocese if there are any in different dioceses or of different ttpes of church organisation: CofER, Roman Catholic, etc). If we did that, we could have the option (I think) of collapsing or exapnding each deaconry separately, which might also help matters. The question is, who would be able to have the time to do it? - That's great and it seems to work. At least if it is collapsed by default, much of the problem is solved. Maybe sometime someone could work on your suggestion. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 18:31, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps removing all the repetitious 'churches' in the list might help - thus "St Mary's Church, Acton" becomes "St Mary's, Acton" - actally it might be better to list the place first and then the church name. Subdivision would be good too.--Joopercoopers (talk) 16:14, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

- Have you seen List of churches in Cheshire? This gives some ides of the size the navbox would have to be. Even if your (good) idea were carried out it would still be enormous. But if anyone wants to have a go...... I think all the churches are in the list, and there are some natural subdivisions. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 20:59, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
