Template talk:Base userpage editnotice
@MusikAnimal: I noticed that you created this template several months ago. I can understand why this template would be useful, but I think it would seem very intimidating for most new editors on Wikipedia. Can we welcome new users to Wikipedia without mentioning the fact that newly created articles or "promotional content" that can be deleted from their user pages? Remove the comma after including CVs or resumes
as it seems a bit weird. But maybe its just a personal preference. L293D (☎ • ✎) 02:02, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- @L293D: Not done:. The second comma is necessary, as the phrase
including CVs or resumes
is an non-restrictive appositive. --Ahecht (TALK

I think "resumes" should be spelled "résumés" so that it doesn't look like "resumes" to avoid confusion. SemiHypercube ✎ 22:46, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

@Xaosflux: you forgot the "s" after résumé. L293D (☎ • ✎) 02:04, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- Done Ooop! Thanks for the note @L293D: — xaosflux Talk 02:06, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
Proposed rewrite
[edit]In the sandbox, I've drafted a rewrite of this editnotice. The changes still keep a big warning about not drafting an article on your userpage, but they remove details about how to create a new article (which aren't likely to be read, as they're after the link to Help:Userspace draft, and belong there anyways) and replace them with very basic information about what a uservpage actually is (something the current template doesn't do).
Does it look good to implement? Courtesy pinging @MusikAnimal, who I see was very involved in the 2015 discussions that led to this template's creation. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 21:51, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Looks good to me. The two main points we were trying to get across was to (a) not create drafts on the base userpage and (b) understand that it isn't for résumés or overly self-promotional content, which yours still says in fewer words. I believe both points are less of a problem nowadays anyway, given user pages are no longer indexed by search engines. — MusikAnimal talk 03:05, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
