I've started the categories page, following the example on Hawaii, but I'm not sure I understand what the shortcut to history is on the Alaska tasks page. Utah has an example, an outline of Utahan history, but no links. What do we want to do with this? How do we update the tasks list? Deirdre 20:53, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I completely understand... are you asking how to edit what appears in this template/to-do list? If so, that's at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Alaska/to_doIf not, we can start an outline of Alaskan history by simply typing text at that page. - No, not how to edit it, rather, what is the link from the Alaskatasks template to History supposed to be? what is the purpose of the page we would create there? If we want to create an outline of Alaska history, as you indicate, and as appears to have been done on the Utah page I linked to above, that's easy enough. If so, would this be useful? would we want to make links from that page to different history articles and subsections about Alaska? I guess I'm asking what the envisioned point of such a page would be. I can see how a thoroughly linked outline could be useful as a navigation guide and a way of organizing articles we'd like to see along with those we already have. Hope I'm being clearer here. - Aahhh! The "History" redlink two links to the right of the recent changes link, ON the template. Above the to-do list? Got it (at least, I hope I understood this time ;) ).... to be honest, I copied that template over from the Hawaii page I believe when I started the project to begin with. Looking at Hawaii though, they too have a red-link. Looking at Utah's use of the page, it's rather hard to tell what they use it for. A template? The beginnings of an article? I'm not sure either.... Regardless, I don't really see the need for it at this point. If you want to keep it, I'd be fine with that, I just didn't pay attention to that detail when I copied over. One thing I do rather like is Michigan's use of "Project Divisions" [1]. I could see this being of great use - for us to coordinate our collective work within the divisions. Removed the Wanted Pics/Graphics for the map of the Inner Passage, I found one that seems decent enough and put it on the Inside Passage page. Tempestdevil 09:21, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm a nominal member of the Alaska project and have created and contributed to articles on Alaskan anthropology, politics, etc. I looked at the article on Justin Parish today and updated it, as I did those of his predecessor. This updating Alaska political articles is a task on the Wikiproject's wish list, but that effort appears to be a bit haphazard. I hope that someone with more interest and motivation will follow up on this. Activist (talk) 03:02, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
