Recent changes
[edit]Hi, this is pertaining to the recent changes in which the provinces where put in alphabetical order (as done with the Roman Empire provinces template), there is basic reasons for doing so. Firstly, if we were to list every province in the Achaemenid Empire it would amount to nearly 500 provinces. Secondly, there were about 31 satrapies at its greatest extent, 100's of minor satrapies, more kinglets, and others were ruled by local kings who acknowledged Achaemenid rule. So we can't list every province, there we would run into to much distinctions and problems that would arise. Therefore, as said on the Satrapies page of Livius.org and p. 173 of Pierre Briant's From Cyrus to Alexander book, I suggest we state them in the way and only the ones stated on the inscriptions. In the book mentioned, the author lists every Achaemenid inscription that pertains to satrapies, some have 23 from one time, others have 31 satrapies from another time (meaning in about a 20 year interval), the list on Wikipedia has all (actually some areas in the inscriptions state Saka h. Saka t., so this list has to improved later), if combined would amount to 34 (meaning if we only count 1 form of Saka). We could make sub sections to be clearer on in what inscription a certain place appears or not appears, but as of now this template is complete. However, anyone is welcome to improve some areas that have to expanded upon, regards.--24.23.160.233 (talk) 10:07, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Problems
[edit]The link from Indus strapy goes to Taxila satrapy. Taxilla was in the Gandhara containing satrapy (7th). Can I remove the link on Indus strapy and place it on Gandhara?
