Please leave the Texas as "Dallas Texans". At this point, there were two teams playing in Dallas.
- Yes but they are in completly different leagues. Should be called Dallas. Same with New York, just New York would be sufficent since the NY teams are in different leagues. HoosierState 04:09, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
"Dallas Texans" is consistent with "New York Jets" and removes any ambiguity that one might think that the Cowboys were, in 1962, in the AFL.
- Only use nicknames when they are in the same league otherwise it is not nessecary. HoosierState 04:14, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I appreciate your input and your point of view. I am open to discussing this matter with the greater community, but for now I need to complete this work and need to keep the teams named as they are.
Thank you Fruminous (talk) 04:18, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I could better understand your point if these leagues had never merged. The fact is, they later did merge. A user who doesn't have your knowledge of NFL/AFL history may be confused by our desire to keep things needlessly succinct. When two teams exist in the same city, we need to distinguish them from one another.

- The key is at this time they were not merged so we didn't have 1 complete NFL. Its like having 2 seperate sports. Also the link links to exact team so there shouldn't be any confusion. HoosierState 04:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I fully understand that. The leagues would later merge. It can cause confusion. We need to let this topic be for now. I'm trying to finish my work for tonight on all of these templates.

- Thats fine I don't really care about the AFL anyway, haha. HoosierState 04:27, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Cool! ;-)
