Usage
[edit]{{yearInCountryPortalBox|England}}
will create a portal box featuring England and History.
This is used for example at Category:16th century in England.
The template takes up to three parameters, to handle cases where a portal for a specific topic may not exist. Up to three topics can be entered, starting with the most general and ending with the most specific.
There is also an optional parameter Year. If this is present, the template will include a link to the portal for the relevant decade, if it exists.
{{yearInCountryPortalBox|United Kingdom|England|London|year=1995}}
will create a portal box featuring London, History and 1990s portals.
If there was no London portal, it would show the England portal instead.
If there was neither a London nor an England portal, it would show the United Kingdom portal instead.
Maintenance
[edit]Template:YearInCountryPortalBox/parse contains a list of switches where new country names, regions or continents may be specified for country names that do not have a portal of their own. In some cases this list gives two portals separated by %%, e.g. to add former colonial powers such as
| Spanish Sahara = Western Sahara %% Spain
Two is the maximum; this aspect of the template will not work with three or more.
Date ranges may also be added e.g. for former colonial powers.
