Template:Welcome-anon-suboptimal
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
Someone using this IP address, Welcome-anon-suboptimal, has made edits that were made in good faith, but have been deemed not to contribute positively to the article. These edits have thus been reverted. Wikipedia's page on unacceptable additions may explain why. If you'd like to experiment with the syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles.
If you are confused by this message as it does not appear to relate to you, you may wish to consider getting a username to avoid confusion with other editors.
You don't have to log in to read or edit pages on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free, requires no personal information, and has many benefits. Without a username, your IP address is used to identify you.

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and a timestamp. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, our help forum for new users, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask the Help Desk, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Again, welcome! ~~~~
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:Welcome-anon-suboptimal}} ). Any accidental transclusions will be automatically substituted by a bot. |
Purpose
[edit]This template is similar to Template:Welcome-anon-unconstructive, in that it's there to welcome IP users whose (non-vandalism) edits have been reverted. However, this template is oriented towards contributions that were clearly intended to be constructive, but were removed.
Examples:
- An IP user adds information to an article, but the same information is already present (in different wording) elsewhere in the article.
- An IP user makes a contribution that violates policy or convention in a minor way, and is clearly just a flawed attempt to improve the article.
Usage
[edit]To use this template, add {{subst:Welcome-anon-suboptimal}}
to the user's talk page.
Parameters:
- The relevant page:
{{subst:Welcome-anon-suboptimal|Article}}
identifies the article where the suboptimal contribution occurred. - Your user name:
{{subst:Welcome-anon-suboptimal|Article|Username}}
adds a link to your talk page in the welcome message. - If notitle is set, for example notitle=yes, then the "Welcome" title is not displayed.
