From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template is intended to assist users at the help desk, AfC help desk, the Teahouse, for replying to {{Help me}} requests and at other fora, where a user asks about some policy, guidelines, project concept, interface element, etc. and knows its name, but obviously was unable to easily locate it themselves.

{{subst:WP search protocol|NAME}} will produce:

Here's a tip for finding relevant policies, procedures and guidelines, and most anything else you hear mentioned by regular editors, or come across in Wikipedia's interface. Type "WP: (an easier-to-type alias of "Wikipedia:") into the search box, followed by the word or phrase you heard (in this case "NAME"). Most of the time, this will quickly locate a targeted, behind-the-scenes information/help page, or how-to guide. See more at Help:WP search protocol.

Usage

[edit]
  • This template should always be substituted by prefixing "subst:" inside the template code. Thus, use {{subst:WP search protocol}} or {{subst:WP search protocol|NAME}}, rather than {{WP search protocol}} or {{WP search protocol|NAME}}.
