Template:WPBSA 2011/doc
This is a documentation subpage for Template:WPBSA 2011. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Usage
[edit]This template cannot be subst'd, unless this is done before it is put inside <ref...></ref>
(due to a bug in the <ref> and <references /> system). There is no reason to substitute it anyway.
This template is for creating a properly-formatted reference citation to the official WPBSA rules of snooker and English billiards, as of December 2011, very frequently cited in snooker and sometimes more general cue sports articles (see WP:WikiProject Snooker and WP:WikiProject Cue sports for more information). It is almost always used inside <ref name="WPBSA 2011"></ref>
.
If you need to cite the same source in the same article more than once, use <ref name="WPBSA 2011" />
for the subsequent citations.
Example
[edit]{{WPBSA 2011|9|access-date=2024-11-11}}
The access-date must be specified manually, and is required because this is an online source:
Page numbering
[edit]See {{rp}} if a page number is needed in subsequent citations with the <ref name="WPBSA 2011" />
notation.
Otherwise, simply add the page number(s) as the first parameter:
Article text.<ref name="WPBSA 2011">
{{WPBSA 2011|9|access-date=2024-11-11}}
</ref>
produces:

Later editions
[edit]The copyright date in the edition cited here is "2011". When this changes at WorldSnooker.com, next time the rules are updated, create a new template, e.g. Template:WPBSA 2012, and start using that one; do not modify this template to use the new version of the rules, or you will falsify all citations using this template! You can manually update them to refer to correct page numbers in the new version and using the new template, after verifying that the relevant text in the article is still properly verifiable with the new version of the source.
