Template:SvaraC
Appearance
This template uses Lua: |
This template facilitates the input of one of the popular styles of notation of svaras in Carnatic music. The svaras are then displayed in standard fashion with accessible abbr tags which provide an expansion for each note when it is active or hovered on. The template also optionally lists alternate notations for the same svaras in Western or Hindustani convention.
Usage
[edit]Group type | Footnote marker template | Explanation |
---|---|---|
{{svaraC|S|R1|G1|M1|P|D1|N1|S'}} |
S R₁ G₁ M₁ P D₁ N₁ Ṡ | The notes in this form of input are case-insensitive. |
{{svaraC|S|R2|G2|M2|P|D2|N2|S'}} |
S R₂ G₂ M₂ P D₂ N₂ Ṡ | Each note is displayed using an {{abbr}} tag. Overdots and underdots signify higher and lower octaves respectively. |
{{svaraC|R2}} |
R₂ | You can also use this template with a single svara. |
{{svara|R₂}} |
R₂ | You can also use the generic {{Svara}} template if necessary. |
{{svaraC|S|R3|G3|M1|P|D3|N1|S'|foot=yes}} |
S R₃ G₃ M₁ P D₃ N₁ Ṡ[a] | Equivalent Hindustani and Western notations can optionally be displayed as a footnote. The Western notation assumes Sa to be C. |
{{svaraC|S|R1|G3|M2|P|D1|N3|S'|abbr=no}} |
S R₁ G₃ M₂ P D₁ N₃ Ṡ | You can turn off the use of abbr tags (which are enabled by default) by specifying abbr=no. This is particularly useful if you make a lot of template calls in an article and are facing performance issues. |
The foot parameter create an {{efn}} footnote which can be displayed using the {{notelist}} tag. The notes are also grouped and, if necessary, can be displayed separately using the {{notelist|group=svara}}
notation.
