The typical usage requires no parameters because the template looks up the other data.
e.g. on Category:Sports clubs and teams in the United Kingdom, no parameters are needed
The other needed data is:
- the parent location(s) in which the location is located. This is looked up by Template:Country2continent if the location is a country.
If the location is not a country, then the information must be provided.
Optional parameters

bypasses the lookup of the parent location (i.e. continent), and uses "Atlantis".|parentlocation2=Lemuria
bypasses the lookup of the parent location (i.e. continent), and adds a second continent: "Lemuria"|tail=province
is available for use when the location is a subdivision of the parent location.
