Template:SealifePhotos/doc

This is a template to generate links to SealifeCollection.org, a database of sea life photos.

Instructions

1. Search on Sealife Collection for the species of sea life you want.
2. When you find the desired page, the page URL should look like https://sealifecollection.org/taxon/######, where "######" indicates a number.
3. Copy only that number.
4. Add to the external links section the text:

   {{sealifephotos|######|name}}

   where "######" is the number you've copied, and "name" is the optional name of the link (if omitted, the page name will be used).

Example

1. On the page Halocynthia papillosa, search for "Halocynthia papillosa". The taxon ID in the result is 103827.
2. Copy "103827" and then insert it in the {{SealifePhotos}} template, including this number as a parameter:

   {{SealifePhotos|103827}}

3. The result on the page Halocynthia papillosa is:

   Photos of Halocynthia papillosa on Sealife Collection

4. Alternately, use the 'name' parameter to change the default name. Then {{SealifePhotos|103827|red sea-squirt}} would render as:

   Photos of red sea-squirt on Sealife Collection

Typically this is a list item in the external links section (even if there is only one link), so you should add "*" in front.
