Peer review via Wikiproject
[edit]Why
[edit]This template standardises WikiProject-associated peer reviews. Previously, around over an hundred Wikiprojects had their own separate peer review processes. This led to a number of problems, particularly with reviews that languished unattended for many years. Many WikiProjects did not even have any peer reviews requested at all. To help unify the way things were done, this template is used to direct editors to use the general Wikipedia peer review process.
Its goal is:
- Help peer reviews be responded to in a more timely way, and exposed to more editors
- Increase the sense of community and activity that contributors experience, by facilitating the display of peer reviews at a more central and active venue
- Reduce the technical and maintenance burden for Wikiprojects
- Link peer reviews to a more widely maintained process, keeping technical factors more up to date
It is still possible to include peer reviews on the Wikiproject pages - see example below. This template simply helps direct editors to how to create a peer review using the central process. This means a review might be listed both on a Wikiproject's peer review page, a page that people can be easily watched by Wikiproject participants, and also at the central peer review listing.
