A poster for El Capitan, an operetta by John Philip Sousa with libretto by Charles Klein. It opened on April 13, 1896, in Boston, after which it transferred to Broadway, where it ran for 112 performances, starring DeWolf Hopper. Since then, it has been produced numerous times internationally and has remained popular for some time.
