The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, which connects Kent to Essex as part of the Dartford Crossing, seen here from Greenhithe, 2.5 km (1.6 mi) east of the bridge. At 137 m (449 ft) high and 812 m (2,664 ft) long, the bridge was Europe's largest cable-stayed bridge when it opened in 1991.
