Template:Maryland road map/doc

Maryland road map is a template that simplifies and better organizes reference calls to official state highway maps produced by the Maryland Geological Survey, the Maryland State Roads Commission, and the Maryland State Highway Administration. These maps serve as a major resource for articles about portions of the Maryland highway system. The official maps are produced annually, biannually, or sometimes on a less regular basis; for instance, no maps were produced during World War II. Usage

This template has one required parameter:

• year: a four-digit year between 1910 and 2011. For map editions that features more than one year, such as 1946–1947, use the first year (1946) in the field.

There are several optional parameters:

• link: set to yes to link Maryland State Roads Commission or Maryland State Highway Administration for the maps published by those agencies.
• section or sections: one or more map grid sections. On most maps, sections are reference by a letter followed by a number, such as J13. This parameter is used to provide a more specific indication of what part of the map was used. Not all state maps have explicit grid sections.
• inset: one or more areas that are not part of the main map but show a smaller scale version of an area, such as a major city.
• mode: this template uses {{cite map}} as a base, so therefore it is in the Citation Style 1 family of templates. Set this parameter to "cs2" to emulate the Citation Style 2 used by {{citation}}
• ref: for use with shortened footnotes and templates like {{harvnb}} or {{harvp}}.
