Template:MSW3 Gardner/doc
This is a documentation subpage for Template:MSW3 Gardner. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
This template takes an optional id parameter, heading and page number or numbers for the MSW3 entry on the species or other taxon in question.
For example:
{{MSW3 Gardner | id = 10400007 | page = 3}}
gives
Gardner, A. (2005). Wilson, D.E.; Reeder, D.M. (eds.). Mammal Species of the World: A Taxonomic and Geographic Reference (3rd ed.). Johns Hopkins University Press. p. 3. ISBN 978-0-8018-8221-0. OCLC 62265494.
for Derby's woolly opossum, Caluromys derbianus (the title link goes to the MSW3 web page for the species entry).
In the following example, a heading is used:
{{MSW3 Gardner | id = 10400030 | pages = 4–18 | heading = Subfamily Didelphinae}}
giving
Gardner, A. (2005). "Subfamily Didelphinae". In Wilson, D.E.; Reeder, D.M. (eds.). Mammal Species of the World: A Taxonomic and Geographic Reference (3rd ed.). Johns Hopkins University Press. pp. 4–18. ISBN 978-0-8018-8221-0. OCLC 62265494.
for Didelphinae (the heading link now goes to the MSW3 web page for the subfamily entry, while the title link goes to the Google Books preview for MSW3).
Gardner contributed the following sections to MSW3: Order Didelphimorphia, Order Paucituberculata, Order Microbiotheria, Order Cingulata and Order Pilosa. When no heading is employed, it may be advantageous to use instead one of the more specific taxon-based templates ({{MSW3 Didelphimorphia}}, {{MSW3 Paucituberculata}}, {{MSW3 Microbiotheria}}, {{MSW3 Cingulata}} or {{MSW3 Pilosa}}), which supply a default chapter heading.
An optional |ref=
parameter is supported but seldom used. It allows specification of reference names in Harvard references, for use in the {{citation}} template family. For example, use of |ref={{harvid}}
or |ref={{SfnRef}}
templates enables subsequent use of short-format templates like {{harvnb}} or {{sfn}} (see Yarkand hare and Long-tailed vole for examples of usage).
