Parameters
[edit]- name - this should be the name (or one of the names) as given in the CRHP for the site. It may contain links.
- coordname - this is a plaintext name that will be used in mapping the site. It may not contain links or other wiki markup. Note: if "lat/lon" are used and the "name" contains links then "coordname" must be used to avoid problems with the coordinates display.
- region - one of the two letter provincial/territorial codes.
- address - the street address, or other description of the site's location with the community. Ideally this parameter will include the use of {{sort}} so that the entries in a table will sort well by this parameter. If blank, will use the Wikidata property located at street address or location.
- municipality - the community in which the site is found. This should be wikilinked. If blank, will use the Wikidata property located in the administrative territorial entity.
- pc - the three-digit Canadian postal code for the site. If blank, will use the Wikidata property postal code.
- lat - the latitude (in decimal notation) for the site.
- lon - the longitude (in decimal notation) for the site.
- provinceId - the CRHP numeric identifier for the province in which the site is located.
- image - the name of an image to use; do not include [[File:, [[Image:, or other image formatting. If blank, will use the Wikidata property image.
- commonscat - The category on Wikimedia Commons for images of this site. If blank, will use the Wikidata property Commons category.
- idf - a federal designation number in the CRHP; the template will provide a link to the CRHP using this number.
- idf2 - a second federal designation number in the CRHP for sites registered twice at the federal level (used for national historic sites and historic railways); the template will provide a link to the CRHP using this number.
- idp - a provincial designation number in the CRHP; the template will provide a link to the CRHP using this number.
- idm - a municipal designation number in the CRHP; the template will provide a link to the CRHP using this number.
- wikidata - the ID of the site on Wikidata
Microformat
[edit]The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.
Sub-templates
[edit]If the place or venue has "established", "founded", "opened" or similar dates, use {{start date}} for the earliest of those dates unless the date is before 1583 CE.
If it has a URL, use {{URL}}.
Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.
Classes
[edit]hCard uses HTML classes including:
- adr
- agent
- category
- county-name
- extended-address
- fn
- label
- locality
- nickname
- note
- org
- region
- street-address
- uid
- url
- vcard
Geo is produced by calling {{coord}}, and uses HTML classes:
- geo
- latitude
- longitude
Please do not rename or remove these classes nor collapse nested elements which use them.
Precision
[edit]When giving coordinates, please use an appropriate level of precision. Do not use {{coord}}'s |name=
parameter.
