Template:Digitalisat/doc

This template is used to place a digital link ("Digital link") within the text of an article. The URL is hidden from the display to not disfigure the text.

English Wikipedia articles do not usually allow external links within the body of the text so any link created by this template should be moved to either a footnote or an external link.

Usage

This template is a copy from de:Template:Digitalisat. If a less experienced editor copies text from the German Wikipedia that includes this template, then by having a copy here it is relatively easy to follow the links to the external sources.

It is possible to tell if the text containing the template comes from German Wikipedia only if the editor making the copy places a message in the edit history.

The parameter number (1=) must be specified only if the value contains an equals sign.

Google Books (GB)

Only the Google Books ID is given, which is the part that is found in the URL directly after "http://www.google.de/books?id="

• The following part in the page URL for " http://reader.digitale-sammlungen.de/resolve/display/bsb", with the ending ".html" is omitted.

If none of these parameters are specified, "Digitisat" is used as link text.

Number of pages

The parameter SZ is used to specify a page number. Please note that specific page naming is used, such as "PAnn" in Google Books, since several page counts are often used in a plant (for example, for introduction, main part, attachments). NB "S. 12" is the German equivalent of "p. 12" and "Band 1" is usually translated to "Volume 1" although in some circumstances it means "Part 1". It can also be shortened to "Bd. 1" meaning "Vol. 1"

With Google books this is a page count, which is usually the same as the page number of the work.

The page count in the Internet Archive does not correspond to the page number of the work, but is the page number of the digitized.

Double-sided

With the optional parameter doppelseitig("double-sided") the display can be changed to a double-sided display. The parameter only works if a page number has been specified.
