e5 Project
- ... that the e5 Project designed the first fully electric oil tanker? Source: "Japanese shipping company Asahi Tanker has announced it plans to build two “world first” zero-emission electric propulsion tankers which will be powered by lithium-ion batteries [...] the two new vessels [will] use the “e5 tanker” planned and designed by e5 Lab" (The Driven)
- ALT1: ... that the e5 Project has produced designs for the first fully electric oil tanker?
- ALT2: ... that the e5 Project designed a currently in-production electric oil tanker?
- ALT3: ... that the e5 Project has produced designs for, ironically, a renewably-powered oil tanker?
- ALT4: ... that to reduce greenhouse emissions, the e5 Project is producing a renewably-powered oil tanker?
- ALT4a: ... that to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping, the e5 Project is producing solar- and wind-powered ships to transport fuel oil?
- Reviewed: I have less than 5 nominations, so I believe I am exempted.
- Comment: Note that I didn't move the article to mainspace because it was created through AfC, but I did write the article as a draft.
Moved to mainspace by 5225C (talk). Self-nominated at 11:14, 25 June 2020 (UTC).
- While this article meets the technical definition of 1500 characters, I do not believe it is currently long enough, being mostly disconnected sentences and with clear missing information. For example, the article prose does not even mention the founding date (and the headquarters in the infobox should not be just "Japan"). Looking through sources just on the page, I can see more information that could be added.
- The current hook is a bit WP:CRYSTAL. There's a design, but there's not yet an oil tanker. Other eligibility requirements are met, so this can still pass with a bit more work. Best, CMD (talk) 12:22, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for your review. I have tried to address the points you raised and fill out the article a bit more, particularly the company's history. Hopefully this will address your concerns regarding the article's length and completeness. However, I do want to point out that two e5 Tankers are in production by Asahi Tanker Co., so I don't think it's fair to say the hook is WP:CRYSTAL. Regardless, I have added a second hook that I think covers the issue.

- The article looks better now. Regarding the hook, if the ships were delayed or scrapped, they wouldn't be the first projects to never leave production. However, the hook can say they're in production, as that wouldn't be crystal. Regarding wording, it is currently quite matter-of-fact. Perhaps consider re-wording it to imply the "irony" mentioned in the article, which would make it more 'hooky'? CMD (talk) 14:05, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- I have added ALT2 and ALT3 which should fix both of those issues.

- My second point wasn't really about an issue, it was more about drumming up the pizzazz. I was thinking something along the lines of ALT4a: ... that to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping, the e5 Project is producing solar- and wind-powered ships to transport fuel oil? - I see. I've added another ALT based on that.

- Review needed for ALT4a, which is the most interesting hook here. Yoninah (talk) 13:09, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: ALT4a is supported by the same sources as the others. ("Japanese shipping company Asahi Tanker has announced it plans to build two “world first” zero-emission electric propulsion tankers which will be powered by lithium-ion batteries [...] the two new vessels [will] use the “e5 tanker” planned and designed by e5 Lab" The Driven)

- Yes, but because it has an added fact that is not in the other hooks, the wording of
that to reduce greenhouse emissions
, it needs a review. Pinging CMD to take a look at ALT4a. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:29, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think I can judge 4a since I formulated it. I can confirm that the greenhouse gas emissions part in ALT4 and ALT4a is based on the sources in the article, eg. The e5 ship will charge up while it is in port, using wind and solar generated electricity, meaning its operation will be truly emissions free...Industrial shipping is responsible for more than 18 percent of certain air pollutants, around four percent of all climate change emissions, including around three percent of carbon dioxide emissions globally, Furthermore, CO2 emission is minimized by incorporating fuel cell.
