Zaccheus Mason

[edit]

Created by PapaJeckloy (talk). Self nominated at 22:02, 26 June 2014 (UTC).

  • long enough, new enough, sources checks out, qpq done, hook checks out. Good 2 go.--BabbaQ (talk) 13:46, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
I have returned this one from prep as there are instances of WP:PARAPHRASE, especially from reference 4. Gatoclass (talk) 15:07, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I have removed the quotations and rephrased some sentences, and i added more text there, there are no paraphrase instances now, i also added more references, It's now good to go. -PAPAJECKLOY (hearthrob! kiss me! <3) (talk) 15:32, 18 July 2014 (UTC).
The article needs a copy edit for grammar and spelling. I've tagged the article.—Bagumba (talk) 02:44, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
No grammar problems now, i have fixed it all and rewrote the whole article, everything should be fine now, i also removed the tag.-PAPAJECKLOY (hearthrob! kiss me! <3) (talk) 11:26, 30 July 2014 (UTC).
  • There may be fewer grammatical problems, but I see a significant number there, so I have restored the tag. PapaJeckloy, since it's clear you don't see such issues in your own prose, please leave it to others to decide whether the template should be removed. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:33, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I've also started a discussion at Talk:Zaccheus_Mason#Excessive game-by-game detail regarding excessive game-by-game detail. I do think this still has DYK potential. If additional text is needed after the detail is trimmed, info on his college basketball career can be added.—Bagumba (talk) 01:16, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
  • The hook does not seem that interesting. There are many American college basketball players who will never play in the top-level NBA at home that go overseas to play basketball in other leagues.—Bagumba (talk) 01:16, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
  • About the intricate issue, It is needed in the article and it's not intricate, as you can see an import in the PBA of his height can only play few games at the league, and also because he's an import and the conference where he played was shortened because of the national team preperations for the World Cup, and the section is named Barangay Ginebra San Miguel stint which means what he did during his career with Ginebra, and lastly the Stats are also shown how many points he tallies, and not just they win the game or not, and if about the Grammar, i have fixed it as you can see there is none now, if you revert it back please state where are the errors, it's like accusing someone without evidence, and about the name moving, it is his more popular name he played only here in the Philippines and all citations are stating Zaccheus not Z., i removed the tags and reverted it again to Zaccheus.-PAPAJECKLOY (hearthrob! kiss me! <3) (talk) 07:51, 31 July 2014 (UTC).
  • About the interesting hook issue, it is interesting though because he is an former American football player before he played basketball without other basketball experience, and about the Citation needed issue i have removed it and i added citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PapaJeckloy (talkcontribs) 07:57, 31 July 2014‎ (UTC)
  • PapaJeckloy, while I commend your enthusiasm, your skill as an author and editor is not yet to the point where you can reliably identify problems with your writing. The reason the tags are there is not meant to be personal or an accusation: it's always about the article, not the editors. I can see that it may feel discouraging, but unfortunately there are many errors still remaining. From the inappropriate comma after the first word in the section, to misspellings ("there" when it should be "their"), to sentences like This is first Mason's career experience, he got fresh after an amazing stint in college with the University of Tennessee-Chattanuga where he averaged 15.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks during his last year. that have a number of problems: here, "first" is misplaced, "got fresh" has no referent and is too informal (I'm not even sure what it means in this context), "Chattanooga" is misspelled, "amazing" is a peacock word that should not be used in encyclopedic article prose, and the phrase "career experience" seems to mean that this is his first job as a professional basketball player but doesn't really say that. I gather that Mason played both football and basketball in college; the article could be clearer about that. In general, the article doesn't seem to point out that Mason's sole professional experience is with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, and amounts to a "tune-up" game or two plus ten games in a single tournament, and it gives a lot of detail on the first three games in the series only.
A major copyedit and structural edit still needs to be done. You may want to get help from a colleague or two. I've restored the tags/templates to the article, and will request one final time that you not remove them even after your next round of edits, since your skill as an editor is not sufficient for you to reliably judge the article's state—you've twice declared that no grammatical errors remained, and have been very wrong both times. If you do remove the tags again and significant issues still remain in the areas noted, I'm going to have to reject this nomination. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:10, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
I agree with BlueMoonset. This article is not yet ready, but has DYK potential and the problems are surmountable if the nominator chooses to work with the community. Please note that Wikipedia:Did_you_know/Supplementary_guidelines#Other_supplementary_rules_for_the_article advises: "D6: The article is likely to be rejected for unresolved edit-warring or the presence of dispute tags. (Removing the tags without consensus does not count.)"—Bagumba (talk) 18:31, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
This nomination should be rejected, this is getting out of hand, maybe, next time, when i nominate another article, it must be ready, Let this be a lesson to me, Thank you all and i appreciate your reviews, maybe, i still do not know what are the guidelines here, so i should study it, Thanks again. -PAPAJECKLOY (hearthrob! kiss me! <3) (talk) 04:46, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
