Source: Manchester Guardian 1933a: "The Statue of Industries at the North-east Coast Exhibition at Newcastle was tarred and feathered last night by several hundred students of Armstrong College ... It was designed by a teacher at the College.; Manchester Guardian 1933b: "Mr. Herbert Maryon, master of sculpture at Armstrong College, Durham University, whose statue representing Industry was tarred and feathered at the North-east Coast Exhibition at Newcastle-on-Tyne last week by students from the college..."
