- Dull hook. How is this different from what so many other businesses have threatened striking workers with? Daniel Case (talk) 04:41, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- What about, "Did you know that after Whitefoord Russell Cole threatened his workers with dismissal and loss of their pensions during a railroad strike in 1921, his house was "bombarded with bottles until its concrete porch was littered with glass"?Zigzig20s (talk) 04:47, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- Zigzig20s, I think that hook is more interesting, but it's also too long for DYK: there's a maximum of 200 characters, and it is 222 prose characters. Perhaps Cwmhiraeth could help suggest fine-tuning something within the length limit? BlueMoonset (talk) 15:32, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

- Edit conflict. How about
- ALT1 ... that when Whitefoord Russell Cole threatened his striking workers with dismissal and pension loss in 1921, his house was "bombarded with bottles until its concrete porch was littered with glass"? (198 characters)
- ALT2 ... that after Whitefoord Russell Cole threatened his striking railway workforce with dismissal in 1921, his house was "bombarded with bottles until its concrete porch was littered with glass"? (194 characters) Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:29, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- ALT3 ... that after Whitefoord Russell Cole threatened his striking railway workers with dismissal in 1921, his house was "bombarded with bottles until its concrete porch was littered with glass"? (191 characters)Zigzig20s (talk) 19:24, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- I guess these hooks will do, but we need someone else to review the nomination. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:55, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Date and length fine. AGF on offline source. I prefer ALT1 though I do think it should still have the date added (which can still be done and be under the 200 character limit). QPQ done, no close paraphrasing. Good to go. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 11:46, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you. I have made adjustments to ALT1 and it is now 198 characters. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:27, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
