Walthamstow by-election, 1910
[edit]- ... that at the Walthamstow by-election in 1910, two local vicars criticised the opposition party for fielding a candidate?
- ALT1 ... that the Walthamstow by-election in 1910 was fought partly over the Osborne judgment?
ALT2 ... that no women were allowed to vote in the Walthamstow by-election in 1910?- ALT3 ... that at the Walthamstow by-election in 1910, John Simon's election address made no statement of his political views?

- Definitely not ALT2, since women weren't allowed to vote in other by-elections or general elections at the time. No comment on anything else. Nyttend (talk) 15:55, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Fair point. I suggested it only because the male-only franchise was the subject of specific protests during the by-election, and not as a gratuitous link to an aspect of the broader political context. I could reword ALT2 to cover the specific interventions by the suffragists in that campaign ... but I suspect (tho haven't checked) that the suffragists made similar objections to most by-elections at that time, so even that would probably be a little weak. So I have struck ALT2. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:07, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

- Needs full review now that hook issues have been settled. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:10, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Date, length and hook all OK. Good to Go. I prefer Alt1 as I think it is the most "hooky". The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 15:50, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
