Walter Loving
[edit]- ... that Walter Loving is believed to have been the first black man to direct a musical performance at the White House?
- ALT1 ... that it was claimed Gen. Douglas MacArthur said the death of bandleader Walter Loving during the Battle of Manila was "a sacrifice he would never forget"?

- Article is new enough, long enough, and seems to meet policy. I cannot verify the hook, though. The cited source says that "[according to a source] this was the first time in history that a band from outside the United States mainland played at a White House Inaugural reception and it was most certainly the first led by an African-American". It does not claim to discuss the first ever musical performance at the White House led by an African-American. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 13:37, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- Qwertyus - I read the source to claim it was the first-ever musical performance at the White House led by an African-American. However, in the interest of keeping things moving, I've provided an Alt hook. LavaBaron (talk) 17:45, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- I can't find the quote in the source. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 18:00, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry to hear you're having problems, Qwertyus. I wish you the best of luck with your other endeavors on Wikipedia. LavaBaron (talk) 06:38, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- Instead of being an ass about it, you could have pointed me to the bottom of the left column. Fair enough, ALT1 hook verified, QDQ done, good to go. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 19:22, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to be an ass. It was a very short article, so if you're unable to find the reference on your own (and this was the second time in this nomination you had trouble - I already did you the courtesy of writing a new hook when you weren't able to find the clear reference in the first one), DYK evaluations just might not be your forte. That's okay, no one is good at everything. LavaBaron (talk) 20:37, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
