Wales national football team home stadium
- ... that having hosted Wales' first home international football match in 1877, the Racecourse Ground is the oldest football stadium in the world that continues to host international fixtures? Source: Guinness World Records BBC News

- Will be claiming this for review, but as I am busy today with real-life matters, I will not be able to start until either later or more likely tomorrow. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:07, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- I got caught up in real-life matters so I'll try to review this tomorrow. Right now I took a quick look at the article and noticed that the actual sentence that mentions the hook fact doesn't have a footnote, instead the source that verifies it is located at the end of the next sentence. Per the DYK guidelines, the reference needs to be duplicated in the sentence that mentions the hook fact. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:48, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Narutolovehinata5:, thanks for taking up the review. I've moved the Guinness World Records source directly after the info now. Also added in my QPQ review as well, cheers. Kosack (talk) 14:11, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm almost ready to review this, but I wonder if the hook link could be revised. The piped link of course is to "Wales national football team home stadium", but the wording presented in the hook is "Wales' first home international football match", and personally I feel this could be a bit too easter eggy. - ALT1... that the Racecourse Ground has hosted more Wales home international matches than any other ground and is the oldest in the world still hosting international fixtures?
- Working the title in proved tricky, came up with a slightly better version above. Kosack (talk) 05:46, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- The wording for that sounds a bit clunky. Would a slightly revised version (which I'm posting below) be okay with you? It's a bit on the long side, but it's difficult to get across the point in a shorter hook, admittedly. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 02:45, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- ALT1a ... that the Racecourse Ground, which has hosted more Wales home international matches than any other ground, is the oldest stadium in the world still hosting international football fixtures?
- @Narutolovehinata5: Yeah that sounds good, the only thing I would say is that it should probably be the Racecourse Ground. Kosack (talk) 06:41, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- I omitted the "the" before the stadium's name because I thought "Racecourse Ground" was a proper name and I frequently hear articles omitting "the" before names of stadiums if it's at the start of sentences; I'm not sure how it works with British English (I am admittedly more familiar with American English). In any case I've put "the" before Racecourse Ground for now. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:26, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

- Article was promoted to GA status on time, and the article meets DYK requirements. ALT1/ALT1a is cited inline and verified in the source (I've made another slight modification to ALT1a as the original linking looked like it linked to Wales' international matches in general instead of just stadiums). A QPQ has been done. I see that Wales has a number of upcoming matches; would it be okay for you to request a special occasion hook for 19 November to coincide with their home match against Hungary? I think that date just fits under the six week requirement, though the choice is up to you. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:03, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
