- Requested in Special occasion holding area to be held to April 14/15 to coincide with the RMS Titanic centenary.Marcus334 (Talk) 20:56, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- Overall a pretty good article, but I'm not convinced by one of the sources, http://www.titanic-whitestarships.com/Olympic_1911.htm , which looks like a personal website (hence not acceptable per Wikipedia:Verifiability. Could you please find an alternative? I've made a few corrections and copyedits but otherwise the content is fine, the sources (other than the one mentioned above) seem good and the article and hook are both interesting. Once the source issue is resolved the article should be ready to go. Prioryman (talk) 10:24, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
- Article was to be held for April 14. In the meantime, there appear to be some phrasings that are too close to the source. Compare for example "parted its mooring chain in a gale, drifting 32 miles (51 km) off station despite attempts to go ahead under power. The ship regained station on June 30 when the weather moderated." with "parted chain in gale, drifting 32 miles off station despite attempts to go ahead under power; regained station Jun 30 when weather moderated". Nikkimaria (talk) 14:13, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Also: "The ship's bell tolled through a heavy fog to give the Olympic her bearing and help guide her past the dangerous Nantucket Shoals just to their north" --compare to [1]: "That night, the bell tolled through a heavy fog to give ocean liner Olympic . . . its bearing and guide it past the dangerous shoals." Kablammo (talk) 14:39, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- More text taken verbatim from this source: "By the early 1930s the RMS Olympic . . . was beginning to show her age, with mechanical and structural problems starting to surface as she entered her third decade of service." (article) vs. "By the early 1930s Olympic had begun to show her age, as mechanical and structural problems started to surface. Still, Olympic sailed on, now in her third decade." - This is a self-nom from a contributor with more than 5 DYK credits. QPQ review, please.--PFHLai (talk) 21:06, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- I've asked the contributor but he hasn't responded and seems to be away. I've taken on the article in the meantime and have significantly expanded it further, and am working to resolve the issues that have been raised above. I'll post an update here shortly when it's ready for a re-review. Prioryman (talk) 20:44, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- This is now ready to be reviewed again. I've fixed the issues identified above and have done a QPQ review of Template:Did you know nominations/Telopea truncata. It's a shame the original contributor hasn't returned but the article's definitely worth a DYK. I've taken the liberty of adding myself as a co-author as I've contributed about 70% of the current content. Prioryman (talk) 08:45, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Made a few further tweaks to the article's wording to resolve a few small CP issues duplication detector turned up; the remainder appears to have no significant CP/CV issues. The expansion looks good for the nomination time, and has been expanded further; image is appropriate and appropriately licensed. AGF on offline sourcing. I believe that this one is good to go.
