Umeå city fire

[edit]

Umeas oldest fire station

Created by Victuallers (talk). Self nominated at 21:24, 28 May 2014 (UTC).

  • The second paragraph of the history section needs some attention. I removed one duplication of the fire, but I'm not clear whether the subsequent reference is another duplication or refers to another fire. Belle (talk) 01:05, 30 May 2014 (UTC) Thanks for the copy edit and polish! I have picked over the confusion in the second para and cleared up the ambiguity. Much improved due to your help. Victuallers (talk) 07:06, 30 May 2014 (UTC) I also tweaked the main hook to add Lilla Edet Victuallers (talk) 07:13, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
  • The Swedish article has a lot more detail which you might raid if you read Swedish. Also I'm worried about the title (even though the Swedish article's title is the same), as Umeå had already been burned to the ground twice by the Russians. As for the rest of the criteria... Length and creation date are fine. Hooks are fine; I prefer the original. The text comes close to the sources in places, but it is difficult to write away from the sources when only headline facts are presented. Photo is free and clear. QPQ is pending. Sun is shining. Birds are singing. Belle (talk) 09:54, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
I don't read Swedish sadly and the articles frequently lack the reference density that DYK likes which makes reuse tricky. Do help if you can. I think the usual rule for titles is to assume its the only article until it isn't. Someone may change it to be plural or add the year to the title as they add more content - (although I think at least one of the other city fires was more arson by an enemy force). Given that the Swedes chose this title too then I have assumed they have more expertise here? I have added a QPQ .... I can hear those birds, so I'll go outside now :-) Victuallers (talk) 10:44, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
It's fine for DYK purposes but if you did want to expand it Google translate can probably help you get the gist (I'm probably trying to teach you how to suck eggs here, grandmother). I can help out if you get completely stuck. Give me a ping. Belle (talk) 11:11, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

See my review and Victuallers' comments above. Belle (talk) 11:11, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, your hook reads well too. Can someone tick this rather than sending this for re-review (which is OTT). Thanks Yoninah Victuallers (talk) 22:22, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
