Two problems with the hook. First it's just a little too long (clocks in at 207) - this is minor. I suggest just changing the way the dates are presented: "that by sponsoring the Turnhalle Constitutional Conference in Windhoek (1975-1977), the South African government attempted to quell armed resistance waged by the People's Liberation Army of Namibia".
Second, and a bit more importantly, while both the fact that SA's government hoped that piecemeal reforms and concessions would quell the violence and that it sponsored the conference appear in the article and presumably in the sources (in German, AGF) I'm not seeing a direct link between the conference itself and the desire to quell the rebellion. I'm guessing that this probably is in the source but it should just be made explicit in the article.
Other than that it's a pretty interesting and well organized article. Volunteer Marek 11:18, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- (edit conflict, this is what I wanted to post) Hi Marek, I changed the hook as you suggested. I also added one sentence (Background, last phrase) that—if I did not misunderstand you—should address your concern. It is explicitly stated in the German source. I also added a sentence to clarify on the sponsoring (which, as I saw just now, was not entirely uncontroversial) in the "Conference setup" section, first paragraph, last sentence. Thanks for your input! --Pgallert (talk) 14:03, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
