  • The image being offered doesn't seem to be anywhere in the article. This issue is probably easily fixed, but per the rules, it should be. All other requirements have been met as far as I can tell.
Done I believe the issue has been addressed now. —DAP388 (talk) 12:18, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
The hook is a bit dry for someone (like me) who isn't familiar with the series. I'd like to propose a slight augmentation:
ALT1 ... that Matthew McConaughey (pictured) was initially assigned the role of Martin Hart for True Detective's first season, before being recast as Rustin Cohle?
I was actually unsure of whether to add the Rustin Cohle bit into the hook (as I thought it might somewhat take away from it), but seems it would have been a good idea. Perfectly fine going with this new hook. —DAP388 (talk) 12:18, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
I'll put this on hold, pending a fix of the image problem and feedback on my proposed ALT1 hook. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 06:21, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
I'll also note that DAP388 appears to have contributed only two DYK's so far (including this one), so QPQ doesn't apply. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 06:54, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
The image discrepancy has been fixed (image changed in article to match the image proposed here). I proposed the alternate hook, so someone else really should make the final call. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 16:53, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Just so there will be no question as to whether I reviewed this DYK nomination adequately, here are details:
  • Article was created on July 12 (five days before the DYK nomination was submitted).
  • It is definitely long enough.
  • It appears to me to be written in a neutral fashion.
  • It uses inline citations (85 of them) for its sources.
  • I'm slightly concerned about the lengthy and unsourced episode synopses. Since this sort of thing is widespread amongst TV series articles in Wikipedia, however, I'm hesitant to make a big deal over it at this time — though I'll certainly understand if others feel differently.
  • The hook (both the original hook and the slightly augmented alternative hook which I proposed) are sufficiently short, properly formatted, and supported by an inline-cited source. I quibbled a bit over whether the original hook was sufficiently interesting, but I think the alternative hook definitely meets this requirement. No POV or BLP problems with either hook.
  • DAP388 has contributed only two DYK's so far (including this one), so he is exempt from QPQ.
  • The proffered image is free (from Commons), is OK at small size, and (since a recent fix by the nominator) appears in the article.
Again, the main reason why I'm not calling this one (and would like someone else to finish the review) is that I proposed an alternative hook. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 22:46, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
That's fine. If a second opinion agrees with your concerns about the episode synopses, then I will make the necessary edits. Thank you for your review! :) —DAP388 (talk) 01:39, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Everyone please note that this DYK is on hold pending approval by a second reviewer of the ALT1 hook which I (the initial reviewer) proposed. As you'll see, I've completed the rest of the review, but some other reviewer needs to chime in regarding whether to accept my alternative hook, go with the original hook, or reject both hooks and ask for something else. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 17:47, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Upon further reflection and investigation, I have changed my mind on this DYK nomination. The eligibility criteria say that a new article "may not consist of text spun off from a pre-existing article." However, it appears that the bulk of the content of this article was copied or moved from True Detective (TV series) and List of True Detective episodes. On this basis, I must withdraw my positive review above and now recommend this DYK nomination be rejected. Apologies for any confusion my oversight may have caused. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 02:18, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
