Trevor Kincaid
[edit]- ... that by the time he turned 27, Trevor Kincaid had discovered more than 240 new insect species?

- Article created on January 17, with over 4,000 characters. No mention of his age in the article at the time of discoveries, and QPQ not done? --Khadar Khani (talk) 23:43, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, Khadar Khani it's corrected now. First, I think I made a typo, it should have read "27" not "23." Second, I've made this less ambiguous in the article itself and added an additional reference. I've never had a DYK article promoted before so I don't think I'm supposed to do a QPQ? - Good to go! --Khadar Khani (talk) 03:39, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this but couldn't find the citation for "before his 27th birthday". Is it in one of the offline sources? Yoninah (talk) 23:10, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Yoninah. Source #3 (Windows to his World: the Trevor Kincaid Story) unambiguously states this occurred "by the time of his 27th birthday he had ..." (using those exact words), unfortunately, it's not available online. However, you can confirm the veracity of this absent referencing the book from either source 4 (University of Washington library) or source 8 (PBS), which say that he was born in December of 1872 and discovered X# species on the Harriman expedition which, in turn, our own article on that - Harriman Alaska Expedition - says was completed by late summer of 1899. I know that's OR and I wouldn't normally suggest it except, in this case, it's just a more convenient option to confirm what source 3 says than actually ordering the book which is long out-of-print (I have a copy which is what made it easy for me). - No need to worry about OR if the hook fact appears in an offline source. Here is a full review: New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paphrasing seen. Offline hook fact AGF and cited inline. I added "insect" to the hook. No QPQ necessary for first-time nominator. Image is public domain. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 15:39, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
