... that the earliest record of the Toronto cocktail is from 1922, during which the city of Toronto was under prohibition? "First published in Robert Vermeire's cocktail book in 1922..." (from Cocktail Culture: Recipes & Techniques from Behind the Bar, Soole and Caudle, 2013); and "...since Ontario had a prohibition on alcohol from 1916 until 1927..." (from The Toronto—a namesake cocktail you've never heard of by Sismondo, October 2016) Note: the city of Toronto is in the province of Ontario.
