The Voice UK discography

[edit]
  • ... that The Voice UK has had six top 40, eleven top 75, fourteen top 100 and twenty-four top 200 hit singles on the UK Singles Chart and two top fifty albums on the UK Albums Chart, including one top ten placing on each chart?

  • Minor typo (fourty->forty), and perhaps a little complex? Such alliteration, and the movement from five, forty, ten, seventy, two, fifty, one, then ten. It gets a little confusing. Perhaps only one or two of these stats. Also, top ten of what? UK charts? US charts? S.G.(GH) ping! 14:48, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
UK Singles and Albums Charts, hence the 'typo'. I've made some amendments.--Launchballer 18:02, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Hook is 223 characters, far too long for DYK. Please suggest a shorter ALT hook; while 200 is the absolute max, strongly recommend significantly shorter than that. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:41, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
ALT2: ... that The Voice UK has had six top 40, eleven top 75 and fourteen top 100 hit singles on the UK Singles Chart and two top fifty albums on the UK Albums Chart, including one top ten placing on each chart? --Launchballer 09:03, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Hook is still too long at 202 characters after an edit (should give ALTs, not edits, when changing hooks); note that spaces do count in hook length, but not anything before the initial "that". Suggesting the following with further cuts, since the UK singles list is typically 75, not 100 (or 200), which is a more reasonable 176 characters:
Need a new reviewer to do a full review of the nomination; including hook sourcing. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:09, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
My apologies. I did that far too quickly and I have reverted myself. On closer investigation, simply changing some of the words to numbers should get it to below 200 characters:
  • ALT4: ... that The Voice UK has had 6 top 40, 11 top 75, 14 top 100 and 24 top 200 hit singles on the UK Singles Chart and 2 top 50 albums on the UK Albums Chart, including 1 top 10 placing on each chart?
What I will say is as the article sources the information, albeit unconventionally, I would be inclined to disagree with its exclusion.--Launchballer 16:14, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Launchballer, you're not hearing us: we're saying the four singles data points are excessive, and not an effective hook because of all the numbers. Also, your new use of numbers violates WP:NUMERAL: the number of occurrences and the "top" numbers should be in different styles (numeric and written), and since "top 75" is the standard and the occurrences tend to be words that would be written out normally (two and six), I'd go with that version (also used in earlier hooks). I'm striking ALT4 per the above, and the original and ALT2 hooks as too long. If you don't like ALT3 (which resembles the very first hook you suggested at the time of nomination), you're welcome to propose another alternative—I'm certainly not going to insist on my proposal—but you should consider taking the hook in a different direction in that case. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:30, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
If it's a simple case of excessive data, and given that this the first time I've ever heard of WP:NUMERAL, then I have no further issues with ALT3. Any further issue with the article itself?--Launchballer 20:30, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
  • We still need a new reviewer to do a full review of the nomination; including hook sourcing. As far as I can tell, there never was a complete review done by the original reviewer: length, size, sourcing, all the rest of it. That still needs to be done, at which point if any issues exist, they will doubtless be raised. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:50, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Is this something that could be done by SGGH, the original reviewer, or would it require someone else?--Launchballer 22:15, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
  • This article's prose consists almost entirely of text copied from The Voice UK (specifically, from the lead and the "Format" section). DYK rules require 1500 characters of original prose, or a fivefold expansion of pre-existing text (see supplementary rule A5), which means this article is currently ineligible.
Additional, minor point: I count twelve top 75 singles, not eleven. DoctorKubla (talk) 09:36, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
DoctorKubla: All fixes have been conducted. I see you have already updated ALT3; is there anything else that needs to be addressed?--Launchballer 15:20, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
  • The new lead is just over 1500 characters, hook fact (ALT3) is supported by the sources, everything else is fine, and no QPQ necessary. DoctorKubla (talk) 05:09, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
