Teen Age Message
[edit]Alt 1... that six years before NASA broadcast the Beatles song Across the Universe, Russian scientists became the first to send an interstellar musical message, a live theremin concert
Alt 2... that six years before NASA beamed "Across the Universe" into deep space, Russian scientists broadcast a live theremin concert from the Eupatoria radio telescope (pictured).
- Alt 3 ... that the Teen Age Message was sent by Russian scientists from the Eupatoria radio telescope (pictured), and was humanity's first musical Active SETI broadcast?
- Alt 4... that six years before NASA beamed "Across the Universe" into deep space, Russian scientists broadcast the Teen Age Message from Yevpatoria radio telescope (pictured).
- Comment: My first DYK nomination. It's been seven days since I started expanding it, but I hope you'll consider it anyway.

- I think this would be interesting for DYK. For the sake of the nomination, may I ask you to put citations at the end of each numbered element under "Overview". Then let's take this review out for a spin and see what happens.Maile66 (talk) 22:15, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- Done Braincricket (talk) 03:17, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Two more things:
I wrote an alternate hook (~175 chars) that mentions the Beatles, Russia, and theremins. I feel like it might be too clumsy. Please improve it if you can. Braincricket (talk) 05:03, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Reformatted how DYK alternative hooks are done. And you're getting there. Let me make a couple of more suggestions, with the only difference between the two is the wording either "Teen Age Message" or "First Theremin Concert for Extraterrestrials" You can agree to more than one hook, and what the promoter selects is based on what you as the author agree to.
- Alt 3, I would like to suggest the original hook with slight changes: Inbetween First Theremin Concert for Extraterrestrials and "was humanity's....", insert what you wrote for Alt 2, "broadcast by Russian scientists from the Eupatoria radio telescope (pictured)," and then the rest of the original hook as is.
- Alt 4, exactly like that, except instead of First Theramin Concert, call it Teen Age Message. Just make sure it's all sourced where it should be.
- Or, if you prefer, we could just stop at Alt 2. Completely up to you if you'd like to try Alt 3 and Alt 4. Decide which hook(s) you like best, and we can go from there. Maile66 (talk) 11:34, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Let me be sure I was clear. If you do want to try Alt 3 and/or Alt 4, please write it yourself, as I was only making suggestions. Maile66 (talk) 00:20, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Explainer: Braincricket added two more alternative hooks, replacing the three that were there. Because DYK prefers to have all original text on the templates, I restored the three original hooks, and put Braincricket's two newest ones at the bottom as Alt 3 and Alt 4., and am posting below this the message Braincricket left on my talk page. I believe Braincricket to mean that what I have labeled Alt 3 and Alt 4 are the two hooks Braincricket would like the promoter to choose from. Maile66 (talk) 19:45, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I've settled on a hook and an alt. I'll let the promoter decide which one they want to use, if that's alright. I'll go over the DYK guidelines and make sure the hooks are properly sourced. Let's get this party started. Braincricket (talk) 19:31, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

- Working with author on what hook they want. Full review will be done after that is decided upon. Maile66 (talk) 20:04, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
The nominator missed nominating the 5X expansion on deadline by 3 days. I'm going to Wikipedia:Ignore all rules and follow DYK Not exactly, to approve this nomination. I feel it's different enough and interesting enough to be on DYK,. Maile66 (talk) 20:37, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
