- ALT1: ... that Tara Jones refereed at Wembley prior to officiating her first major tournament?
- ALT2:

- Comment: I know alt0 is a bad pun, it's mostly thrown in there before someone suggests it; alt1 currently relies on recognising Wembley as one of the most prestigious sports grounds in the world.

- I've struck ALT2 as it was over 200 characters and thus would not be acceptable for DYK purposes. However, I think the idea behind it is fine and I wouldn't oppose a hook about her refereeing and also being a player. ALT1 might be too niche to those unfamiliar with rugby league (and considering Wembley is more associated with association football instead of rugby league, it might even cause confusion). No comment on ALT0 other than perhaps it being... I don't know, inappropriate? Otherwise the article seems like a pass at first glance. I'll complete the review once a replacement for ALT2 is suggested. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:07, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- ALT2a: ... that Tara Jones was the first female referee in the men's Super League the same year she captained a women's Super League team?
- @Narutolovehinata5: Thanks for review, alt2a offered. Kingsif (talk) 13:12, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- ALT2a is better but I wonder if the wording could be rephrased somehow. The wording sounds weird to me, though the hook facts themselves are solid. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:25, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: Sorry, I must have missed your reply. I think I get what you mean. How about:
- ALT2b: ... that, in 2018, Tara Jones both captained a women's Super League team and was the first female referee of the men's Super League?

- Thanks. The article appears to meet requirements for length, newness and paraphrasing, and a QPQ has been done. ALT2b is the best option here. I do want some clarification though. The hooks says she was the first female referee in the men's Super League, but the BBC source I checked said she was an in-goal judge. I admittedly know little about rugby league, but it is my understanding that a match referee and an in-touch judge are two different positions right? I guess ALT2b's wording needs to be adjusted then? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:54, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: No change needed. Maybe a comparison will elucidate? While "the" referee is the one running about the pitch, all match officials (including in-goal judges) are referees; a sous chef or a line cook may not be "the" chef, but they are a chef. So, someone being the first French chef to work in X restaurant isn't dependent on whether they're in charge of the kitchen or not; someone being the first female referee isn't dependent on which refereeing position they take. - Would using the term "officiated" be more accurate in this case? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:42, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

- ALT2c: ... that, in 2018, Tara Jones both captained a women's Super League team and was the first female match official in the men's Super League?

- Okay, I think ALT2c solves my concerns. While I do have some slight reservations about no mention of her being active in rugby league, I suppose "Super League" should be a hint to readers. It's just a minor concern anyway and doesn't affect the article for DYK purposes. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 14:55, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: I've just thought, could this be a special occasions hook for 1 November in England - the 2021 Rugby League World Cup – Women's tournament, in which Jones is playing, starts then. Kingsif (talk) 16:02, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
