Sydney Secondary College Leichhardt Campus

[edit]

*... that the Leichhardt Campus of Sydney Secondary College has colonies of Platypuses and Wombats?

ALT1 *... that the Leichhardt Campus of Sydney Secondary College has colonies of Platypuses and Wombats on its grounds?

  • Strictly speaking, it appears that the Leichhardt Campus doesn't have colonies of wombats and platypuses - they are to be found at the Lostock property in the Hunter River valley, not in the middle of the Sydney metropolitan area. Perhaps it could be reworded? ... that the Leichhardt Campus of Sydney Secondary College has a camp with colonies of Platypuses and Wombats? A bit awkward, perhaps. Creation date, length and cite are fine. Acroterion (talk) 13:26, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I see what you mean. But I still think that the weirdness of a school having platypuses and wombats is what's going to draw people in. How about ALT1 above? This way, it's logically not the campus itself, but the grounds of the school, which includes the campus itself and Lostock? ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 16:26, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm all for the weirdness of platypi and wombats, but am trying to figure out how to word it without implying that the school's got them in the middle of Sydney, which the alternate still implies. It's mostly a product of the school's own terminology: their insistence of the term "campus" makes it hard, and I would have no objection to a statement that Sydney Secondary College has platypuses and wombats - I think that's broad enough to be reasonable. Platypodes can be found in Sydney... I'm not so sure about Wombats, but I have heard of a dam and creek in Western Sydney with some. Sydney Secondary College is a separate entity and article, so I don't think that suggestion works. Any other ideas? ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 17:15, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
... platypuses and wombats populate the Leichhardt Campus of Sydney Secondary College's rural retreat? That puts the weirdness right up front. Acroterion (talk) 17:52, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
What about:
ALT2 ... students of the Leichhardt Campus contend with colonies of wild platypuses and wombats at their rural retreat?
Slightly different sort of absurdity, but still true (as anyone who has had to park to wait for a wombat to finish crossing the road might know). ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 23:58, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
I like it: platypuses and wombats demand an absurd hook. Acroterion (talk) 01:55, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
Cheers. I've moved ALT2 and struckthrough ALT1 so it's clear which one we want. ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 02:09, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
