Star trail (photograph)
[edit]- ... that a long exposure photograph of the night sky can result in a type of picture called a star trail?

- Hook seems pretty boring to me and anyway isn't directly immediately cited in the article. How about this? --Rnickel (talk) 16:45, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that star trail observations of Polaris have been used to measure the vibrations in telescope mounting systems?
- Other than figuring out the hook, the text seems good to go: Long enough, recent enough (assuming the "move from user space" date counts as the article creation date, right?), tone good. Only caviats:
- no way to check for copyvio since all the refs are print.
- I wasn't sure about the image... is it supposed to say "(pictured)" somewhere in the hook? Also I wasn't sure how to tell if it's public domain as required.

- Can't help with print articles/books. I'm old-school, what can I say?
- Image is public domain. If you click on the image, you'll see it's on the commons site, and has a public domain tag (image from NASA).
- DYK rules say that the date of move from user space counts as creation date for new articles. Cheers, AstroCog (talk) 17:37, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- GOOD TO GO, with ALT1 hook, but I would say as a text DYK, as the 100x100 pixel image does not work for that picture. Unless someone can be bothered to do a zoomed crop of the image and upload it? Just a thought. Geoffjw1978 T L C 22:50, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
