Stanley Silverstein

  • ... that Stanley Silverstein won an American Shoe Designer Award in 1963 for a ballerina flat he created using "leftover scraps of leather"? Source: Stanley Silverstein, Co-Founder of Nina Footwear, Dies at 91 - "In 1962 Mr. Silverstein made a ballerina flat from what he described as leftover scraps of leather. It quickly became one of Nina’s early top sellers, and in 1963 he received an American Shoe Designer Award from the Leather Industries of America, a trade group."

  • Meets newness and length requirements (created today and 2749 characters as of this edit). Complies with all NPOV, RS, V, and copyright issues. Hook is of sufficiently broad interest and is well-cited. I am pleased because fashion and design is particularly an area where Wiki needs broader coverage. Passed!
