Stanford University Libraries

[edit]

Interesting article about public facilities, well sourced. Two pictures seem to be missing. The original hook would be interesting to people who knew the lady, - I didn't. The other: "almost", - why don't you say what made it to the library: the Hoover collection with a tower (pictured!)? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:57, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestions; I'll see what the article's author has to say. About the hook, I usually try to get something surprising into the hook, something most people don't know - something that will pique their curiosity, make them go "huh?" and click on the link. A lot of people know about the connection between the Hoover Institution and Stanford, but very few people know that the Reagan Library was almost located there. --MelanieN (talk) 14:08, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
P.S. Jane Stanford co-founded the university with her husband Leland Stanford, and she single-handedly ran the university after his death. Here is a picture of her. I'll try to think of a rewording that makes it clearer who she was, if you prefer that angle. --MelanieN (talk) 14:16, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Jane Stanford

Here's a stab at a hook about the Hoover collection, although I prefer the other hooks:

Hoover Tower

About the pictures, they both illustrate a different article from the article being featured; I don't know how people feel about that. --MelanieN (talk) 14:56, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
ALT2 and ALT3. I put pictured italic and sized the pics. The lady needs to appear in the library article in order to be eligible, that should not be a problem, right? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:11, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
I have added her picture to the article. There is already a well-sourced paragraph about her and her jewels. --MelanieN (talk) 15:13, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
