Springs Mills Building
... that the Springs Mills Building's facades were designed to two sets of zoning ordinances, one conforming to an existing code, the other "looking towards the future"?Source: NY Times 2010; NYC LPC, p. 6- ALT1:
... that a building named for a pillow case manufacturer housed the Morocco National Tourist Office?Source: NY Times 2010 - ALT2:
... that inspirations for the Springs Mills Building's hexagonal tower may have included the United Nations, the Pirelli Tower, and the MetLife Building?Source: LPC, p. 4 - ALT3:... that the Springs Mills Building was opened with an exhibition and fashion show to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its namesake pillowcase-making company? Source: LPC, p. 6
- ALT4:... that the Springs Mills Building, a New York City landmark built in 1963, has a hexagonal tower that may have been inspired by the United Nations? Source: NY Times 2010; LPC, p. 4. In this case it is literally a landmark, not in the hyperbolic sense like Times Square is.

- Interesting building, fine expansion on excellent sources, the few offline sources accepted AGF. Hook: I'll wait. The original reads complicated, ALT1 hides the name, ALT2 says more about models than the subject. How about the opening for 75 years (could mention pillows), or the times of construction and being listed (could mention model of UN, and/or hexa tower)? - The first source just calls it Springs Building, is that a commonly used name? Really no image? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:45, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Thanks for the review. I just took some images yesterday, but none of them are really good, due to the fact that the only way to view this building is from the narrow streets next to it (the building is in the middle of the block, sandwiched between taller skyscrapers). The official name these days seems to be "104 West 40th Street", but "Springs Mills" was the official name of the company that built it. How about hooks ALT3 & ALT4? epicgenius (talk) 15:02, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for all. I like ALT4 best! I bet most people will have an idea how that building looks, so may imagie even without a pic. If you'd prefer the pillow, please find something more elegant than the phrase "its namesake pillowcase-making company". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:41, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
