I can't review the sources because they're not in English, so I'll assume good faith that they support the hooks and that there is no overly close paraphrasing. The author appears to have a solid track record in the subject area so I have no great qualms about that. The article is new enough, long enough, and was nominated in good time. The hook facts are supported by the article and are sufficiently interesting; I personally prefer alt1 but this approval relates to both.
